Criteria and guidance

Capital grants of £10,000–£75,000 are available for constituted not-for-profits in Northern Ireland for outdoor recreation and community leisure projects such as playparks, skateparks, trails, outdoor gyms, and clubhouse works serving the wider community. The site must be within five miles of a Biffa operation (or 10 miles of an active Biffa landfill) and within 10 miles of any licensed landfill.

Total project costs must not exceed £200,000, and a 10% third-party contribution is required. Applicants must check the postcode checker and apply via the Biffa Award website.

Applications are rolling, and the board meets quarterly.
